Who was Qin Shi Huangdi?
This research report will identify Qin Shi Huangdi and the legacy he left from the Qin dynasty. Qin Shi Huangdi was a substantial Ancient Chinese emperor. He was born on the seventh of February, 260BC in Handan, China. Shi Huangdi was most famous and well known for being the first Chinese emperor. Qin Shi Huangdi’s life ended tragically on the 10th of August 210BC. There are two theories linking to Qin Shi Huangdi’s death, the first theory was him dying by natural causes and the second theory was being assassinated. No one knows how his death occurred. Qin Shi Huangdi’s name means real, honest, history and first emperor. The Qin Dynasty The Qin Dynasty was the dynasty that Qin Shi Huangdi established. The Qin dynasty lasted for 15 years and for 12 of those years Qin Shi Huangdi was the emperor. The Qin dynasty changed numerous things. There was no Great Wall of China before the Qin Dynasty existed. Qin Shi Huangdi also greatly weakened many people including teachers, nobles and scholars. He gave most peasants one of the two jobs he had and he created a law system and a system of standardization. After Qin Shi Huangdi died the Qin Dynasty only lasted for three years, after Qin Shi Huangdi died his son took place as the emperor. Major Achievements of Shi Huangdi Qin Shi Huangdi had many immense achievements through out his time of living as the Chinese emperor. He had developed networks of roads and canals. He helped unite China economically and helped standardized Chinese units of measurement. The written Chinese language was unified but it was extremely hard to write so an informal Qin script was used as well. He also had the Great Wall of China built to keep all of the invaders out of Ancient China. Shi Huangdi’s Family Qin Shi Huangdi’s immediate family consisted of both his parents King Zhuangxlang and Lady Zaoh, his brother Chengjiao and his children Fusu, Qin Er Shi, Gao and Jianglu. There is a mischievous theory that there was a possibility that he was assassinated by one of the four sons in an attempt to over take the throne. |
Shi Huangdi’s obsession with immortality
Most of the Chinese civilisation were obsessed with immortality and did not believe that there was no life after death. Qin Shi Huangdi was remarkably obsessed with immortality, he had his finest scientists’ work on an elixr of immortality. Many Chinese citizens believed that his obsession of immortality may have been caused by all of the people who had attempted to assassinate Qin Shi Huangdi. Before he died he organised for the locals in China to build 8,000 terra-cotta soldiers in the position just before his tomb for when he died.
