Great wall Of CHina
Basic Information
The Great Wall of china is one of the seven wonders of the world and is located throughout central east Asia. The longest and the most remarkably hand-made wall makes itself local in eight Chinese provinces which are Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, Beijing, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Ningxia and Gansu. The Chinese name for the Great Wall of China means “long wall”. The Great Wall of China is approximately 8,851.8 kilometres long with all of the individual walls being an incredible 21,196.18 kilometers long!
The History Behind it’s Construction
The history behind the Great Wall of China was that the Qin Dynasty decided to join the individual walls because having a longer wall provides better safety and protection than all of the individual walls that were built and not completed. Most of the Great Wall of China that we see today was completed by the Ming Dynasty although the wall was started by the Qin dynasty. The Great Wall was originally made out of dirt and brick but the materials were later changed to stone. The construction of the wall was complete in the year 1911.
Why was the Great Wall built
The Great Wall of China was built to keep all of the Nomads, Barbarians and Mongolians out of China. A barbarian is a person that is not belonging to one of the great civilisation (Greek, Roman, Christian). Many of the Chinese emperors before Qin Shi Huangdi attempted to build a wall and many of the emperors failed the construction of a wall. The reason as to why most of the emperors failed at building a wall was because of the lack of building materials and getting taken over also stopped the building procedure.
